What's new in Castreon

Every Castreon release with its changes: new features, improvements, fixes and security updates. Your server shows the same notes before you update.

  1. v1.0.2 Latest

A new panel: your control centre

    • New Channels: live figures with 15-minute charts, filters by state and richer rows. Click a channel to open a side panel with the live picture, figures, delivery links to copy and the latest events.
    • New Channel page with tabs (Overview, Tracks, Clients, Log, Command): picture, live figures, charts, sources with failover, profile, delivery and recent events on one screen.
    • Improved DVB adapters: each adapter is a compact row that opens into the full card. Adapters with a problem open on their own, and the panel remembers what you opened.
    • Improved Profiles: qualities drawn as bars, the channels that use each profile, and the ready-made recipes as a starting point for a new profile.
    • Improved Settings with a side menu, Users with a security alert (initial password, no 2FA), and an Audit log grouped by day that shows only the fields that changed, with CSV export.
    • Improved A new look across the whole panel: IBM Plex fonts, a denser dark theme with a matching light theme, and the licence card in the side menu.
    • Improved New installations start in English; Romanian is second in the language list. Existing installations keep the language of each account.
    • Fixed The live preview now also works for channels that deliver only HLS (before, it needed HTTP-TS and stayed black).
  2. v1.0.1

What’s new, right in your panel

    • New Before you update, Settings → Updates now shows what is new in every newer version, in the language of your panel, with a link to all release notes.
    • Improved Versions now have clear numbers (v1.0.1, v1.0.2 …) instead of internal codes, here and in the panel.
  3. v1.0.0

More reliable DVB channels and a self-contained package

    • Fixed DVB channels no longer freeze when the broadcaster changes a programme's audio or video tracks: Castreon notices the change and restarts the channel within about a second.
    • Fixed After a retune, DVB channels always read fresh programme information and start with the right audio and video tracks.
    • Improved The source analysis tool (ffprobe) is now part of the Castreon package and is installed with every update, so every server uses the same tested version. Its path and version are written to the log at startup.
    • Improved Updates are now delivered from castreon.net.
    • Security The bundled streaming component is now built with the same protection as the main Castreon program.
