Not sure which plan? Start with the free trial. Several servers? Contact us for a volume offer. VAT is calculated at checkout from your country and VAT ID; card payments through Stripe, invoices in your account.
Licensing and billing
Is the price per server?
Yes. A license runs on exactly one server, with the number of channels of its plan. For several servers you need one license per server — for a volume offer, write to [email protected].
How does the free trial work?
You get 14 days with every Pro feature and up to 10 channels, on your own server, without a credit card. The trial ends on its own and never turns into a paid subscription unless you order one. There is one trial per customer, server or company.
Who can buy Castreon?
Castreon is sold to businesses only — companies, the self-employed and public bodies. When you register, you confirm that you act in the course of your business.
How am I billed?
Monthly in advance, by card. You pay on a Stripe page: your card details go directly to Stripe and never reach us. Every payment gets a PDF invoice in your account, issued by Web Tools IT in Germany.
Guide →How is VAT handled?
Prices are net. Customers in Germany pay German VAT. Businesses in other EU countries with a valid VAT ID are invoiced under the reverse-charge rule, without VAT; without a VAT ID, the VAT of their country applies. Customers outside the EU pay no VAT. VAT IDs are checked in the EU VIES system, and checkout shows the net price, VAT and total before you pay.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes, in your account under Billing — no need to contact us. No further payments are taken; the license stays active until the end of the month already paid, and amounts already paid are not refunded pro rata. Your configuration stays on the server, so everything is still there if you subscribe again.
Guide →What happens if a payment fails?
The subscription shows “Payment overdue” and the license keeps running for 3 more days. Write to support in that window and nothing stops; after it, the license may be suspended until the payment is made.
Can I move the license to another server?
Yes, from your account, with a two-step authentication code — once every 30 days. The old server stops at its next license check, within about six hours, which leaves time to move viewers without interruption.
Guide →Does the server need internet access?
Yes, outgoing HTTPS (port 443): the server checks its license about every six hours and asks for updates. It sends only the license ID, a device ID (a one-way hash of the hardware), the installed version and its IP address — never your channels, content or viewers.
Security & data →Are updates included?
Yes. Every update released during your subscription is included. You install it from the panel in one click, and if something goes wrong, Castreon returns to the previous version on its own.
Guide →What support do I get?
Support works through tickets in your customer account. On Enterprise, tickets received on business days by 14:00 German time are answered the same business day.
What server do I need?
A 64-bit Linux server of your own, dedicated or virtual — Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04 recommended, Debian 12 works too. A graphics card is optional: NVIDIA, Intel Quick Sync or VA-API, if your plan includes GPU transcoding.
Guide →14 days free, on your own server.
Create an account, run the install command and test Castreon with your real channels. Every Pro feature, up to 10 channels. No credit card and no automatic charge — subscribe only if it works for you.
