Updating from the panel
Updated 03 Oct 2026Castreon updates directly from the panel, without SSH and without reinstalling. Configuration, channels and license stay untouched.
How to update
- Open Settings → the Updates section. You see the Current version and the Latest available.
- Click Check for updates. If there is a new version, a message tells you so.
- Click Update to … and confirm.
Castreon downloads the new version, checks the package integrity, installs it and restarts. Channels stop for about a minute — pick a moment with few viewers.
Automatic rollback
After the restart, Castreon checks itself: the license is valid and the channels start. If the server is not healthy after the update, it automatically returns to the previous version. You do not have to do anything.
When a new version comes out
The Updates section tells you when a new version is available. The notes for each version are published in the documentation.
Updating from the command line (optional)
If you prefer, you can run the install command again: the installer keeps the configuration and the license and only replaces the program. Normally this is not needed — updating from the panel does the same, with automatic rollback.
If the update does not succeed
- “Cannot check” — the server cannot reach the update service; check internet access over HTTPS (port 443).
- If the server returned to the old version by itself, open a ticket with the time of the update — we will look at why the new version did not start on your server.
