First sign-in to the panel
Updated 03 Oct 2026After installation, the Castreon panel runs on port 33400 of the server.
1. Signing in
- Open in your browser the address shown at the end of the installer, for example
http://203.0.113.10:33400. - On Sign in, enter the user admin and the password generated during installation, then click Sign in.
- The panel asks you to change the password. Choose a long password that you do not use anywhere else.
If you lost the password shown during installation, you can find it on the server (the file can only be read by root):
sudo cat /var/lib/castreon/initial-admin.txt
2. Where to find everything
The panel menu has three groups:
- Operations — Dashboard (the state of all channels at a glance) and Channels.
- Configuration — Profiles (the transcoding recipes) and DVB adapters.
- Administration — Users, Audit (who changed what) and Settings.
From the corner of the page you reach My account (password and two-step authentication), the panel language (Romanian, English, German, Italian, Spanish) and Sign out.
3. Basic settings
Open Settings.
Instance
- Public domain — the public domain or IP of the server, with port (for example
tv.yourdomain.com:33400). The channel delivery addresses (HLS, DASH, etc.) are built from it. Empty = the server address. - Time zone — scheduled restarts follow it. Choose your audience's time zone, not necessarily the server's.
- Token for players — optional: if you set it, players must add
?token=…to the stream address. - Behind a proxy (nginx) — turn it on only if the server sits behind a reverse proxy; otherwise the visitor's address can be spoofed.
Settings apply immediately, without a restart.
Allowed addresses
The list of addresses allowed to pull the streams. An empty list means open access for anyone who reaches the server. Details in Scheduled restarts and IP restrictions.
License and Updates
The license section shows the Edition, the Machine (ID) and the date the license Expires. The monthly renewal happens automatically in your castreon.net account, and the server picks up the new date by itself. The Updates section shows the installed version and tells you when a new one is available — see Updating from the panel.
4. Secure the account
- Open My account → Two-step authentication and turn it on with an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, 1Password, etc.).
- Create a separate account for each colleague under Users, with the right role: Administrator (everything), Operator (starts, stops and edits channels) or Viewer (view only).
- Do not leave port 33400 open to everyone unless needed: restrict it in the firewall to the addresses you manage from.
5. First channel
The panel is ready. Continue with Adding a channel.
